Trading Challenge Update

Recently, a few readers have asked me, “What ever happened to the trading challenge?”

I confess, I should have provided an update a few weeks ago. But I didn’t. Here’s what happened in a nutshell…

I announced the trading challenge on my blog on April 22. Two days later I was in a severe auto accident. I rolled my car at about 70 mph on my way to the airport.

Besides a gash to my head (I literally lost a piece of my scalp!), I didn’t sustain any major injuries. Frankly, I’m lucky to be alive.

Since then, I haven’t been doing nearly as much as normal. I had to take a break and make time for some much-needed self reflection.

Also, after I announced the Challenge, I had a number of Trading Trainer members ask if they could be involved, too. They wanted to trade with me and try to match my goal.

Of course, I was thrilled that they wanted to participate with me, so we’ve been trying to iron out the details of how that will work.

All is to say, I don’t have a firm date set yet, but I plan to start the trading challenge within the next two months. Later than I had hoped, but it will still happen.

Thanks for reading this blog and keeping me accountable.

Best regards always,

A.J. Brown

Glad to hear you are recuperating from your accident and wish a speady return to your health.I have just moved into the mountains and revised my e-mail address to wildblue.net. Also I am getting prepared to sign on to your program once I am settled down in my mountain top home in the northwest.

What’s the purpose of the challenge? I would think turning 10k into 20k in 20days wouldn’t be much of a challenge for you.

Kasey @ 12:27 pm

Hey A.J., thanks for the update. Glad you’re doing good. Good luck on the challenge.

A.J. Brown @ 9:02 pm

Gerard,

I can’t wait to have you join us once you’ve settled in!

You’ll be an asset to us. But, most of all you’ll be doing a good thing for you. Yes or yes?

:)

A.J. Brown @ 9:02 pm

Thank you all for the well wishes. I have a new perspective on life. That’s what matters, right?

A.J. Brown @ 9:05 pm

Hi RichE,

The purpose is to work closely with four other traders. Together we will generate a $50K charitable donation in a market where a ton of skeptics say it can’t be done. And, to boot, we’ll document our steps along the way in this here blog to prove it can be done.

I think that’ll justify for a purpose… not that I have to justify to you why I want to do something with a twist to generate money for charity. :D

Take care!

Thanks for the belated update AJ. Real sorry to hear about the crash, but glad you are okay. Sometimes events like this can make us refocus on what is important in life, and make needed changes for the better. I look forward to following your challenge, and wish you the best of luck with it. Can you specify which charities you donate to, what challenge rules you will follow in your trading, once you get it going? Are you going to follow your trading trainer money management rules, procedures, and so forth? Best Regards, Bob

A.J. Brown @ 1:50 pm

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the kind words.

Haven’t settled on the charity we’ll donate our challenge proceeds to, yet. Have it narrowed down to three. I’ll keep you posted.

As far as the challenge goes, the five of us will use the Trading Trainer strategies that I teach. I’m eager to show, for all the skeptics out there, that our processes do work. We’ll post our trades in the form of blog posts on this here blog. That’s about it.

Thanks for the interest. Stay tuned!

Sometimes we need a moment of reflection after having an accident. I have found good advice in authors like Ekhart Tolle and Bob Sheinfeld. You are young and you will recover soon. Have a happy life. I love to see you accomplish your target with this challenge. I would recommend options on currencies. We now that the dollar still will go down more. Also ETF’s could be an easy option vehicle.

Hi michael,

Thank you for the kind words.

Hi M.Ruiz,

Thank you for the words of wisdom and the author recommendations. I will definitely check them out.

And, ETF have become my new favorite focus. I agree with you on that one. I’m especially watching the banking sector ETFs. (I don’t believe we’ve seen a bottom there yet - just a speculative hunch… nothing to act on… just watching.)

Hello A.J.

glad to hear that you are doing well after a close call. I have been fascinated with options for a long time. Years ago I studied under Wade Cook. I really learned a great deal. I did about 10 trades in all and half of them were winners. I was never able to get a handle on when to buy a call or a put. I followed your advise and did a trial subscrition to IBD

Gil @ 1:23 pm

I really need to know if I can speak to someone on your staff in order to go further with investing in the options market and becoming a member of your club.

A.J. Brown @ 4:21 pm
